Extra Curricular Activities

  • STCHS whole-hearted believes in partnering with students through academics, as well as, extra curricular activities that develop the whole student.  Our school offers multiple co-curriculars for our students.

    Sports

Sherman Thomas Charter High School came into a multi-school agreement with our boundary high schools through CIF.  Though our school does not have a large enough population or facilities to offer a full sports program, our staff believed that it was vital for our students to have the opportunities to play.  After three years of bringing this need to our district’s school board, our student’s voices were heard and they were given the opportunity to participate in school sports for the 2012-2013 school year.  We will continue to ask for a CIF agreement with our boundary schools yearly.

Through this agreement, our students are able to participate in high school sports at their boundary school.  Our Sports Coordinator works with these schools to ensure the eligibility of each student to play. Our school is also NCAA recognized which allows our student athletes to play competitively at the college level.

    Drama

Drama is a brand new extracurricular activity at STCHS which began in the 2019-2020 school year.  It is open to all students interested in learning more about the aspects of theatre. Once a week students learn terminology, acting skills, set building, costuming, makeup and more. Our goal is to have fun, challenge, and encourage students to grow.  Teaching students transferable skills helpful in all aspects of life. STCHS Drama will put on two productions per school year. See Mrs. Lauren Pfiitzner for more information.

    CSF

The STCHS CSF, California Scholarship Federation, Chapter No. 1455 is a part of a state-wide nonprofit organization whose mission is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among high school students in California. Participating students are recognizing their scholastic achievement and the importance of community service. See Mrs. Montemayor for more information.

    Yearbook

Yearbook at STCHS designs, promotes, and sells the yearbook. It is open to all students giving those who are interested in photography, journalism, graphic design and more, the ability to get hands-on experience. Those on the Yearbook Staff capture the moments, memories, and culture of the school year. See Mr. Elias Duran for more information.

    Student Council

They bring the needs and desires of their peers to the attention of the faculty and plan/organize all student activities.  Some of these include Red Ribbon Week, Winter Wonder Week, and Prom. Our Council is comprised of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Representatives. See Mr. Elias Duran for more information.
